How do I adopt a dog?

If you find a dog you are interested in, please fill out the application on the home page link and send it back for review.  After we have reviewed your application and called the references you provided we can proceed with meeting the dog you are interested in.

Is there an adoption fee?

Yes the adoption fee for a puppy is $300.00.  This fee includes first puppy vaccines, deworming, (RRH will keep them up to date while in our care) Microchipping, vet exam and sterilization.

Adoption fee for a dog older than 8 months old is $250.00.  Includes vaccines, and Rabies, sterilization, microchipping, vet exam.

There will be vaccines that you will be responsible for after adoption.

What breed are they?

This is the most loaded question.  All the rescues that come to Rugby's Rescue House come from the surrounding Indian Reservations.  Some come with a mom but many do not.  I can make an educated guess but without DNA testing it is just a guess.  Dogs can have multiple fathers so some litter can look totally different from each other.  What I can tell you is they are 100% rez dogs and 100% awesome!

How big will this puppy get?

This is another loaded question.  I can make a pretty good guess at about 8 weeks old how big they will get but sometimes they come to we unhealthy and underweight.  So they are a little behind what the average should be.  Again I can give an education guess.

Is this dog healthy?  Will there be a lot of medical expenses?

All dogs that come through the rescue are seen by a veterinarian  for an exam.  If there is concerns at that time we do our best to take care of any necessary treatments.  But as you can imagine rescuing dogs can get very expensive.  We do not run routine blood work on every dog that comes through and there is only so much you can see and feel on physical exam.  There could always be underlying disease that could show up at any time.  RRH is not responsible for medical treatment after adoptions unless previously agreed upon.

How can I help?

We are always interested in finding new foster parents or volunteers.  We have fundraisers throughout the year that requires helping hands.  If you are interested in learning more about fostering please fill out foster application on home page or contact us if you would like to volunteer.
